The 2021 Daphne Pirie AO MBE Spirit of Sport Medal will be awarded to an athlete, coach, administrator or volunteer who best demonstrates the true meaning of sportsmanship.
It is presented in honour of 90-year-old Daphne’s services to sports administration, athletics and hockey and as a tireless advocate for girls and women in sport.
People wishing to nominate themselves or another person for the awards should send 250 words to the Secretary, Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame, PO Box 3147 Southport 4215 no later than COB on Friday 28 January 2022.
Emerging from a deep pool of talent based out of Coolangatta Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson have been successful in and out of the water.

The team are putting together our brand new Commonwealth Games display room. Once set up it will feature memorabilia, collectables and a range of other pieces including a host of items from the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Champion Kayaker Ken Wallace finally gets his 2008 and 2015 Gold Coast Sports Star of the Year trophies!!!! He had been away competing when his name was announced both years and his trophies had been at the Hall waiting to meet their owner.
Today was that day at GOLDOC HQ with president Daph’ Pirie dialing in from her Trinidad and Tobago attaché duties at the Commonwealth Games Village to give a speech!
