Member - Wall of Sporting Legends - Peter Gallagher
Peter Gallagher was a robust forward who enjoyed a remarkable rugby league career. Peter had 209 professional games under his belt and played for Brothers from 1956–67. At only 25 years of age Peter had already received representative honours and made 19 appearances for Queensland. Peter toured with the Kangaroos as a front rower from 1963-64 and captained the Ashes-winning second test in the 1967-68 tour of Britain and France. Peter played with the likes of Graeme Langlands, Ken Irvine, Kevin Ryan, Ron Coote, John Raper and Reg Gasnier. A man well involved in his sport, he also held the position of Gold Coast Turf Club Vice Chairman for 10 years, and Chairman for five years. During his time with the Gold Coast Turf Club, Peter solidified the Magic Millions Racing Carnival to the status it holds today. Peter was the first member of the Wall of Sporting Legends for the Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame.
